Good Day Soju – Muhak

Good Day Soju (좋은데이 소주) is the flagship Soju for the distillery Muhak (무학) based in Ulsan South Korea. Muhak began manufacturing Soju on March 5th 1929 but Good Day was not released until November 8th 2006. Good Day is currently the third largest Soju manufacturer worldwide after Chamisul (Jinro) and Chum Churum (Lotte).

Good Day Soju is made from 100% alkaline water water extracted from the 320m deep bedrock of Jiri mountain. The spirit is filtered 10 times and actively infused with oxygen for 72 hours. This creates a very smooth and clean-tasting spirit.

In 1996 South Korea updated the National Health Promotion Act which prohibited the television advertisement of alcohol if the alcohol percentage was over 17%. Good Day began advertising on Korean television beginning November 20 2006 after introducing the 16.9% abv variety. This strategy elevated Muhak’s products from being “regional” to being known and available nationwide. The strategy of lower alcohol for the purpose of television advertisements was soon followed by other big Soju brands.

Good Day Color Series – (Good Day Fruit Soju)

Good Day flavored soju was first released on May 8th 2015 with three flavors: Blue (Blueberry), Red (Pomegranate), and Yellow (Yuzu). These were released shortly after Chum Churum began releasing their flavoured soju line in March of 2018. Although second to release the flavours, Good Day’s Blueberry was the first flavoured soju to rise to prominence in South Korea.

While Jinro and Chum Churum both have fruit varieties, Good Day is renown for releasing flavours using the input of the different countries which import it which has resulted in a wide variety of flavours.

Good Day comes in the following flavours:

  • Good Day Blue (Blueberry) Soju
  • Good Day Red (Pomegranate) Soju
